The Heat have modified a section of their room to honor Udonis Haslem

A true sacred monster in Miami, Udonis Haslem will be honored by his lifelong frankness. The Heat has indeed announced that a section of its room will now be fully dedicated to the career of the pivot. It will be used for the first time tonight against the Nets.

Barring a last-minute cataclysm, Udonis Haslem is playing his last season in the NBA. At 42 and after 20 years in the League, the veteran will put away the sneakers for good. Quite a change on the Florida side because many fans, especially the youngest, have never had an NBA season without Udo around to rant or play mentorship with Miami players.

Within the franchise, we are preparing nicely for this end of the course but we do not forget to congratulate the player for his precious services throughout these years. In this perspective, the Miami Herald announces that the Heat will use a section of its hall to pay tribute to the career of the former Chalon player. As a symbol, section 305 will have this mission. A number that evokes both the city of Miami, where Haslem is from, and the man’s nickname: Mr 305.

The rendering looks pretty crazy and we will soon see the result with our own eyes because this renovated section will be used for the first time tonight against the Nets for the UD Night !

It’s time to celebrate, even if the game against Brooklyn is extremely important for the race for the Playoffs. On the side of Erik Spoelstra, Haslem’s coach since 2008, there are no words strong enough to talk about his captain. Spo even admits that he will have a hard time getting used to his departure, he who has never trained Miami without Udo around.

“It’s a great tribute to our eternal captain, our mentor, our leader. When we talk about culture, we automatically think of Pat Riley, Micky Arison, Alonzo Mourning, Udonis Haslem. When you try to explain our culture, you show highlights of UD, not just in game, but you find pictures of him on the training ground or as a mentor when no one else is in the gym.”

“He is the most important thing to our franchise. We look forward to it being recognized. As a head coach, I’ve never known a dressing room without UD and I don’t want to start thinking about that just yet.
