Containment, movement restriction, compulsory mask… The provisions permitted under the state of health emergency and the crisis exit regime established to fight once morest the epidemic linked to Covid-19, ended on July 31, 2022. However, the virus has not disappeared, it continues to circulate.

From July 29 to August 4, 414 cases were declared positive, out of 3,979 tests carried out throughout Guyana. The virus is active, but quite weakly. The incidence rate is 161/100,000 inhabitants. This indicator should be monitored to measure the evolution of the epidemic. He corresponds to the number of people tested positive over the last 7 days out of 100,000 inhabitants. At the height of the crisis, the consolidated incidence rate stood at nearly 3,700.

The Guyanese hospital system welcomes 22 patients, hospitalized following contracting the disease. Two people are also in intensive care.

Another observation: vaccination does not cross the 50% mark. It stagnates, but does not stop.

♦ 262 vaccinations are counted in 7 days, from July 28 to August 3, 2022

♦ 40,5 % of Guyanese over the age of 12 are now fully vaccinated
