The dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the CEU San Pablo University, Doctor Tomás Chivato, remembers that Christ not only heals bodies, but also souls

Today I wanted to talk to you about the painting that is behind me. It was painted by Gabriel Dávalos, a professor at the CEU San Pablo Faculty of Medicine, Department of Psychology and is called “Medical Jesus.” Christ, of course, is a doctor of souls, but he was also a doctor of bodies. And this comes up with the power of prayer.

There are scientific publications that show that, for example, in patients admitted to intensive care, where patients do not know that someone is praying for them and two groups are made, some where they do not receive the support of prayer and others where they do.

Those who pray do not know exactly who they are doing it for, they only know that they are praying for someone. People do better in the sense of having a faster recovery, having fewer complications and recovering sooner, facilitating earlier release from the ICU.

With patients of similar age, similar sex and similar severity, prayer also heals. Let us not forget his power, which thanks to Professor Dávalos, reminds us of it with this painting of Jesus, doctor of bodies and souls.
