The heads of Lithuanian diplomatic missions will meet with the country’s leaders and discuss challenges

Almost 70 diplomats working abroad are coming to it, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

During the week in Vilnius, the diplomats will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielis Landsbergis and the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Gitan Nausėdas, Speaker of the Seimas Viktorija Čmilyte-Nielsen, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonyte, members of the Seimas Board, members of the Foreign Affairs and National Security and Defense Committees of the Parliament.

The heads of Lithuanian diplomatic missions and consular offices will also discuss the international security situation with the visiting Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs Tobias Billström, who will attend the meeting at the invitation of G. Landsbergis.

During the meeting, Lithuanian diplomats will also discuss Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the reconstruction of Ukraine, relations with Lithuania’s most important partners, the development of relations with India and the countries of the Pacific Ocean region, Lithuania’s priorities in the European Union, the activities of NATO and other international organizations, and other issues.

According to the ministry, much attention will be paid to the implementation of diaspora policy priorities and the idea of ​​”Returning Lithuania”, promoting diaspora citizenship in preparation for the 2024 referendum on the legalization of multiple citizenship.

As usual, a lot of attention will be paid to economic diplomacy, discussing the promotion of the economic activities of Lithuanian representative offices with the Minister of Economy and Innovation Aušrina Armonaita, the Minister of Communications Marius Skuodis, the Deputy Minister of Energy Albinus Zananavičius and the head of “Invest in Lithuania” Elijus Čivilis.

During the meeting, together with the representatives of the Lithuanian Institute of Culture, the best examples of the presentation of Lithuanian culture abroad will be discussed, as well as the directions of cooperation in 2024 in making the memory of the Lozoraičiai family meaningful.

The meeting of heads of Lithuanian diplomatic missions and consular offices is organized annually, during which achievements are evaluated and goals for the future are discussed.

Lithuania currently has 45 diplomatic missions, nine consular offices, seven missions to international organizations, an office in Palestine and the Skopje branch of the embassy in Croatia.
