The 41st session of the Executive Council of the African Union, held on July 14 and 15 in the Zambian capital, Lusaka, entrusted Rwanda with hosting the headquarters of the African Medicines Agency (AMA). This election confirms the conclusions of a report drawn up by a commission of African experts, set up by the African Union Commission, which traveled to the countries that were in the race to house the premises of the ‘AMA.
Presented from June 1 to 3 in Addis Ababa, the report largely gave first place to Rwanda, far behind Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Tanzania and Egypt. As a reminder, the kingdom announced its candidacy during the 40th ordinary session of the AU Executive Council, held last February in Addis Ababa. In April, Rabat ratified the treaty establishing the African Medicines Agency (AMA) under the AU during a ceremony held at the headquarters of the pan-African organization.

On the other hand, the Moroccan delegation to this conclave was led by Mohamed Methqal, ambassador and director general of the Moroccan agency for international cooperation.
