Klaipeda surgeons and traumatologists are preparing to work during the fighting. This was reported on the website of the Republican Hospital, where an interview with the head physician Darius Steponkus was published.
“Klaipeda is a place where there is both a port and a gas terminal, which ensures our independence,” Steponkus expressed concerns.
According to the head physician, the hospital is increasingly discussing how to deal with combat wounds. This topic was also raised at a meeting with the military, border guards and other doctors.
“We have planned options for how we might provide assistance in our branches,” the head physician explained.
Steponkus added that they plan to train doctors to work in combat conditions, when tens and hundreds of people are brought to the hospital. “We are in the process of learning, preparing and if necessary, we will be ready,” the head physician concluded.
