The United Nations Food Program (WFP) is one of the world’s largest humanitarian organizations and plays a crucial role in saving lives and alleviating distress in humanitarian crises worldwide. Sweden is one of the organization’s largest donors.
During her visit to Stockholm, the head of the UN Food Program (WFP), Cindy McCain will meet the Minister for Aid and Foreign Trade Johan Forssell and State Secretary Diana Janse.
McCain will also be received by HRH Crown Princess Victoria. The program also includes a meeting with the second deputy speaker of the Riksdag, Julia Kronlid, and members of the Riksdag’s foreign affairs committee. McCain will also visit the Nobel Prize Museum to present a gift in light of WFP being awarded the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize.
Sweden’s decided support to WFP for 2024 amounts to approximately SEK 1.3 billion so far, of which roughly SEK 930 million in core support from the government and roughly SEK 360 million through Sida.
