The head of the Maronite League, Ambassador Khalil Karam, condemned the heinous crime committed once morest the young man, Elie Michel Matta, in the southern town of Aqnit, in cold blood and unprecedented brutality. And he considered that this crime increases our insistence on the need to find a quick solution to the file of the displaced Syrians in Lebanon, because it poses a threat to security and destabilizes the pillars of internal stability, and a threat to Lebanon’s identity and its pluralistic demographic character. This is what the countries that are still pressuring Lebanon to keep the displaced on our land and integrate them into our society should know.
While we thank the Lebanese security services for their swift and effective action that led to the discovery of the perpetrator, we share the feelings of grief, anguish and anger with the family of the murdered boy, Elie Michel Matta, over this tragedy that befell them, asking God to have mercy on him.
