The air temperature in the summer of 2022 in the European and southern parts of Russia will be above the norm. This was reported to URA.RU by the head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand.
“On the European territory of Russia, the temperature background is expected to be near and slightly above the norm. In the south of European Russia, it is predominantly above the norm. In temperate latitudes, summer will not be as hot as last year,” said Roman Vilfand.
In the southern regions of the country, less precipitation is expected than last year, the specialist noted. “In the south, where the Krasnodar Territory, Crimea, Stavropol Territory, the temperature will be higher than last year and with less precipitation. But the highest probability that the temperature will be above the norm is in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and in Yakutia, ”he specified.
At the same time, the head of the Hydrometeorological Center emphasized, such long-term forecasts do not have the highest percentage of forecast implementation. “Scientists develop atmospheric circulation models and each time they issue forecasts for winter and summer. At the same time, it is very important that they are never sure that it will be exactly the summer that they predicted. There is a concept that characterizes the degree of confidence in the correct forecast. So, when it comes to a long-term forecast, the degree of confidence cannot be more than 65-67%,” concluded Roman Vilfand.
