The head of PlatinumGames allowed the sale of his studio on one condition

Chapter PlatinumGames Atsushi Inaba admits that in the future his studio may become part of a large company, but this will happen only if it is guaranteed complete freedom following the completion of the transaction. The industry leader made such a statement in an interview with VGC.

“The most important thing for us is to have freedom. To be able to create the kind of games we want,” Inaba explained.

PlatinumGames is not currently trying to sell, but will consider offers as they come in if they mean maintaining the freedom and some independence of the studio under the wing of a major publisher.

Inaba expects Microsoft to provide such freedom Activision Blizzardwhich she is trying to buy for $70 billion. The corporation has already confirmed that Call of Duty games and other popular franchises will continue to exist and develop on the PlayStation.

“I don’t think Microsoft will carefully control and direct every step of Activision Blizzard. The publisher’s studios will likely be able to continue doing what they do best, working with Microsoft on a basis of mutual respect.

Ultimately, this approach is important for us too, so I would not rule out any development if our freedom is treated with respect.”

In 2020, PlatinumGames said that Microsoft did not approach it with a purchase offer, but if this happened, the deal would hardly have taken place, since the studio is interested in maintaining independence and does not want to limit it to anything. The team later received investment from the corporation Tencent.

PlatinumGames recently expressed interest in resurrecting Scalebound.
