**Interview with Økokrim Chief Pål Lønseth on Participation in the Defense Leadership Course**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us today, Pål. As the chief of Økokrim, you’ve been named among several notable figures participating in the upcoming Defense Leadership Course. Can you share what this opportunity means to you and your agency?
**Pål Lønseth:** Thank you for having me. This course presents a significant opportunity not just for personal development, but for enhancing collaboration between various sectors—law enforcement, aviation, and health. By participating, I believe we can strengthen our collective understanding of security challenges.
**Editor:** It’s interesting to see leaders from different sectors, like Avinor’s CEO Abraham Foss and Helse Nord’s director Jonny Lennart Brodersen, coming together. How do you see these diverse perspectives enriching the course?
**Pål Lønseth:** Absolutely. Each sector faces unique challenges, and by sharing insights and strategies, we can devise more holistic approaches to national security. For example, safety in aviation has ramifications that touch upon law enforcement and public health, so interacting with leaders from those fields will be quite beneficial.
**Editor:** The course will also include representatives from the Storting, notably Odd Harald Hovland from the Labour Party. How important is political representation in discussions surrounding national security?
**Pål Lønseth:** It’s crucial. Policymakers provide insight into the legislative framework that supports our operations. Their perspectives facilitate dialogue on how laws can evolve in response to new challenges. By including them, we ensure that our discussions are well-rounded and grounded in reality.
**Editor:** Looking ahead, what are your personal goals for attending this course?
**Pål Lønseth:** My goal is to foster deeper collaboration between our agencies, promote best practices in tackling crime, and to advocate for policies that enhance our collective security posture. I hope to leave the course with actionable insights that can be applied back at Økokrim.
**Editor:** Thank you, Pål. It will be interesting to see how these discussions unfold and what collaborations will emerge from this initiative.
**Pål Lønseth:** Thank you for the opportunity to share my thoughts!
