Today, NVIDIA is one of the largest technology companies in the world, producing cutting-edge GPUs and powerful hardware. The company does not stop its development, and its active work in the field of artificial intelligence is proof of this. Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, has done a lot for the industry, but if he went back in time, would he change anything?
On a recent episode of the Acquired podcast, Huang made a surprising admission. If he had found himself in 1993 with all his current experience, he would not have founded the company at all.
I wouldn’t do this. Building NVIDIA turned out to be a million times more difficult than I or any of us expected. Then, realizing all the pain, suffering, vulnerability, shame and all the difficulties that would have to be faced, no one would dare to start a company. No one in their right mind would do this.
This may seem strange, but it reminds us that behind success and prosperity lie enormous difficulties that not everyone can cope with.
Huang also noted that an entrepreneur’s “superpower” is not realizing how difficult a goal can be. “Come on, it can’t be that hard?” – this motto inspired him on every project.
Jensen Huang shared many interesting points regarding the creation and growth of the company. And now NVIDIA is seeking to position itself to address needs that haven’t yet arisen, so that it won’t face competition when the market does emerge.
Huang emphasizes the importance of being close to potential opportunities and creating “moats” through the ecosystem to continue to grow and stay at the top.
If you have created a market, you have those very “moats”. If you’ve designed a product right… and it’s created an entire ecosystem around you… you’ve essentially created a platform.
If you were trying to help the ecosystem grow with you, you would have this network of networks, developers and customers building things around you.
