The Caldense lived a harsh medical reality more than 8 years ago, in a case that helps us understand what the consequences of a cerebral infarction are.

Mauro Urquijo, now married to the trans model María Gabriela Ísler, went from being a renowned actor to becoming the protagonist of a delicate medical case that has been the subject of analysis for his behavior.

What happened to Mauro Urquijo with his health?

The Caldense was in an induced coma following undergoing two surgeries in November 2016 and in one of them he suffered cerebral infarctions, a health complication from which he survived.

Even a year following the event, Haychelt Benitorevollo, Urquijo’s then wife, recounted some of the details of the actor’s illness.

“A year ago our life changed. A year ago we entered the Colombia Clinic without knowing that the biological valve my husband had from his first heart surgery was broken, the aortic valve broken into small pieces stuck to the sternum. This caused endocarditis. During this operation, his brain convulses and he suffers cerebral infarctions (ischemias and embolisms) that leave my husband without mobility in any of his limbs, with memory loss, with a mental age that does not correspond to his and with impaired cognitive processes. ”, he recounted.

The psychologist, who separated from the artist almost two years following the aforementioned surgery, explained in 2017 what the health process that Urquijo was experiencing was like following that complicated medical situation.

“We have seen the hand of God on his life, in his physical evolution, but we are still missing. Today, one year later, I continue to ask God to finish the good work that He started in him, because his brain convulses daily, he has compromises in episodic memory and executive processes, this at a cognitive level, he has not fully recovered. the mobility of his right hand, he has abrupt changes in his mood,” he described when remembering the operation.

Pulzo, with the support of artificial intelligence, presents what type of problems arise for those who go through health complications like the one Urquijo experienced at that time.
