A soliloquy of a woman on the edge between cruelty and tenderness, wisdom and madness, comedy and tragedy. She talks to her lively son who is standing guard at the monument to the unknown soldier. In front of her, he will listen to her whether he wants to or not, in the past when his mother would talk to him he would run away, now he is defenseless in front of her.
Defenseless as well, she only has an umbrella to hide under as if in a refuge from reality. And when reality doesn’t suit her, her umbrella saves her once more like the tightrope walker. To continue to balance once more on her limb. On the painful edge of “All right once more”, a tightrope on which we all fray every day.
In this role, Marianna Toumasatou excels. She comes and goes on both ends of the rope sometimes as a mother, sometimes as a girl. Because only if we get closer to absolute and selfless love, we will be able to balance between life and what it has in store for us.
