Last Thursday night the conventional Let’s go for Chile, Marcela Cubillos, lived a tense television moment with the journalist Mónica Rincónafter a question made by the communicator regarding the constituent process.
Everything happened after 9:00 p.m. on April 28, in the middle of an interview of the constituent with CNN Chilea moment in which Rincón took the opportunity to ask a question regarding the vision of the UDI militant, regarding the work of the Constitutional Convention.
“You entered after rejecting this process. At some point since you sat in the former Congress as a constituent: Have you ever had a positive view of this constituent process, or have you always been critical of what is being done?”, asked the journalist.
To this and laughing, Cubillo replied, “what a crooked question“- to which Rincón maintained, “there is nothing crooked” – so the conventional continued: “Okay, I’ll answer it, if I never stop responding.”
What did Cubillos reply?
“I got into this process, having been against and I applied because I thought I had to be here to try to fight inside in relation to the ideas we have and what we believe a good Constitution for Chile has to be. From that perspective, we have provided one initiative after another”, said Cubillos.
After this statement, Mónica Rincón attacked again: “Marcela, I think you did not understand my question and that is why you are trying to disqualify me.. What I am asking you, and in good faith I do so, is if Did you ever believe that the result of this process would be a good Constitution? Because you think the one that came out is bad.”
To this, the constituent stated, “that’s a different question”, to which the journalist stated again: “That is the intention of the question, if I had had a positive vision that this could end well. I don’t change my questions.”
“Well, it’s different. You asked me about the process and now about the result, the expectation. I said it in the opening speech. This process went wrong. He left first violating the rules of regulation. That was a very bad sign. I said it at the beginning: the left has the votes to write this Constitution alone, which was decided from day one,” said Cubillos.
