On Wednesday afternoon, the rescuers raised flags at the building of the Haapsalu Rescue Command in Uuemõisa and spent the first night in the new building.

Waving flags signal that rescuers are ready to move out of their new location in the event of an accident. “This means that we have arranged all our things,” said commando chief Andres Kaljura to Lääne Elu on Wednesday.

The previous premises of the Haapsalu rescue command on Tööstuse street had depreciated, and a year ago they started building a command building in Uuemõisa that meets modern requirements.

According to Hannes Aasma, the head of the Hiiu-Läänemaa rescue region, gyms both inside and outside are also important for the working environment. Photo: Urmas Lauri

The first modern one in Läänemaa

The Haapsalu rescue command building is the first functional standard commando built in Läänemaa. Hannes Aasma, the head of the Hiiu-Läänemaa rescue region, said that the construction of the new command building has gone as expected. “A very good builder,” praised Aasma. “And Riigi Kinnisvara AS has managed this project very successfully.”
