The French presidential candidates, Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen, qualified, on Sunday, for the second round of the elections, following the end of the first round this evening, where the first received 28.5% of the votes cast, while the “National Rally” candidate obtained 23.6% of the votes.
Right-wing candidate Marine Le Pen urged all those who did not vote for her opponent, Macron, to join her, while candidates called for the right-wing Republicans, the Green Party, the Communist Party and the Socialist Party to vote for Emmanuel Macron.
The turnout was 65 percent as of 15.00 GMT (5:00 Paris time), a decrease of 4.4 points compared to the 2017 elections (69.42 percent), according to figures issued by the French Interior Ministry.
