The Gulf and the World – Biden announces the killing of “Al-Qaeda” leader…

US President Joe Biden announced the killing of Al-Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri in a US raid in the Afghan capital, Kabul, pointing out that the assassination was carried out with high accuracy, claiming that he approved the killing of Al-Zawahiri for his role in terrorist operations against his country.

Biden claimed that his country would not allow Afghanistan to be a haven for terrorists, and that Washington would continue to pursue terrorists and monitor Al-Qaeda in this country.

An indication that al-Zawahiri took over the leadership of “Al-Qaeda” after the killing of Osama bin Laden in 2011 by US forces in an air raid in Pakistan, where he was hiding.

A senior US official revealed the use of “Hellfire” missiles in the operation, noting that it was carried out by air without the intervention of ground forces.

The official, whose name was not revealed, claimed that the information confirms that al-Zawahiri was killed during the raid, without causing any civilian casualties.

He also explained that advanced missiles were used with the aim of not destroying al-Zawahiri’s house, noting that the process of monitoring his movements began last April, when he was later monitored in Kabul.
