The Guinean government says it is honored by the choice that former South African President Thabo Mbeki made to Guinea for the holding of activities within the framework of his project for the renaissance of Africa. He promises to support his pan-African project.

Foreign Minister Morissanda Kouyaté hails President Mbeki’s lofty ambitions for the continent. He reiterates the readiness of the country’s current authorities to support all initiatives aimed at enabling Africa to develop.

“Your foundation has very clear initiatives. The unity of Africa, the fight against precariousness and corruption, you are the champion. Your position today is better than the position of a sitting head of state, because your forces are freed, your mind is freed, and you are freed from classical diplomacy. You are today in the fight, and in this fight, Guinea and its president Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya and his government are at your side”, he launched.

This is the first time that Thabo Mbeki has celebrated Africa Day on behalf of his foundation outside of South Africa. The head of Guinean diplomacy believes that this choice is not fortuitous.

“You are not mistaken, no one of our countries in Africa can claim anything from President Nelson Mandela and his companions except this African land of Guinea. Here, we do not welcome you, we show you your place in your box. President Nelson Mandela was there with your own father to seal with President Ahmed Sékou Touré, Pan-Africanism, the struggle for the liberation of Africa and the struggle for the liberation of South Africa from apartheid […]. This land of Guinea is yours, it is from here that we will address the whole world and the whole world will hear you”.
