The Progress and Socialism Team in the House of Representatives criticized the growth of random shops selling sacrifices in residential neighborhoods in a number of Moroccan cities, calling on the government to take the necessary measures to limit this phenomenon and modernize the spaces for selling sacrifices.
In a written question addressed to the Minister of the Interior, Abdel-Wafi Laftit, the parliamentary team reviewed the details of the memorandum issued by the Ministry of the Interior in 2018, which aims to combat random rental operations for shops selling Eid sacrifices, which many noted, considering that this measure will limit the growth of these shops that It causes harm to the surrounding population, contributes to the growth of chaos and an abundance of waste, and emits unpleasant odors.
In contrast, the same team revealed that there were those who expressed at the time their rejection of this memorandum, considering that it would deepen the crisis in the prices of sacrificial animals, and would force resorting to places designated for selling them in locations far from the population, which would cost additional transportation expenses that they did not need.
Between this opinion and that, the team called on the Ministry of the Interior to intervene to take whatever measures and procedures it deems appropriate to protect public health, confront all manifestations that contribute to the growing manifestations of chaos and randomness, determine the conditions for renting commercial shops for the benefit of breadwinners, and ensure respect for the law.
In addition, the team called for the opening of model markets for buying and selling sacrificial animals in locations not far from the population, where security and hygiene conditions and means of protecting the herd are available, such as water and fodder, free of charge, in the context of the Moroccan state keeping pace with Moroccans’ preparations to commemorate the ritual of Eid al-Adha.
