African influence at Manchester United is growing, with the club boasting more representatives from the continent than ever before.

Two of Erik ten Hag’s summer signings play for countries on the continent: Cameroonian goalkeeper André Onana and Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Hannibal and Amad joined the team following loan spells at Birmingham City and Sunderland respectively in the Championship.

Although Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly has left for Besiktas permanently, following a temporary spell at Marseille, this means we have more African players in the first team than ever before in our history.

André Onana resumed his international career with Cameroon.

Onana came out of international retirement to resume his Cameroonian career with the Indomitable Lions and Amrabat joined Morocco following finalizing his loan at Fiorentina.

Hannibal, who was on the bench during the defeat at Arsenal, is with Tunisia following deciding to represent the Carthage Eagles in 2021.

Amad, unfortunately injured, is absent from Ivory Coast, but he will work hard to return to the game.

Of course, there is also an African on the coaching staff in Benni McCarthy, a key member of the Ten Hag staff.

The former striker has scored 31 times in 79 caps for South Africa, having represented Bafana Bafana between 1997 and 2012.

He played in the Premier League for Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United.

Benni McCarthy has played 79 times for South Africa.
