The group The Who back in France for an orchestral concert

The Who has announced that it is embarking on a European tour in 2023. The legendary group, founded in 1964, will pass through the Défense Arena in Paris on June 23, 2023, for a unique orchestral concert.

It’s been seven years since The Who performed on a French stage. It was therefore obvious that for its big comeback in Hegaxone, the British group to which we owe My Generation (1965) was going to give an unprecedented concert. For the occasion, the duo has chosen one of the largest European halls, La Défense-Arena in Paris, and will give an exceptional concert in the capital on June 23, 2023, while the official ticket office will open on December 14, 2022.

An orchestral concert, a first in Paris

This performance not only marks the return of the Who to our country. She is unique in more ways than one. Indeed, Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey will this time be accompanied by a full orchestra. Thus, whole sections will be devoted to the real rock operas that are Tommy (1969) et Quadrophenia (1979). The British group will also perform other classics released during their career, including those of WHOtheir latest album, released in 2019.

The leader of the group, Peter Townshend shared his enthusiasm at the idea of returning to Europe on the occasion of this new tour: It’s wonderful to be able to come back to Europe following all these years. We are going to play in Berlin, Paris and Barcelona, three of my favorite cities. We can’t wait to present our great orchestral show to you. It has received great feedback and we are happy to play some good old rock ‘n’ roll from our repertoire. I must say that this concert is one of the most significant, in 60 years of stage with Roger. »

On the occasion of this exceptional concert, the band from London should perform their most emblematic songs like Getting in Tune et Father O’Rileyboth taken from the cult album Who’s Next, but also tracks from their twelfth studio album. Accompanied by an orchestra, this is the first time that The Who has performed in this way in France. As a reminder, their last performance in the capital took place at the Zénith de Paris in 2015, for the 50th anniversary of the group.

La Défense Arena’s programming for next summer seems particularly enticing. Two days before the Who, Pink will perform during her tourSummer Carnival. A few months later, it will be the turn of Imagine Dragonsanother rock band, to ignite the Parisian scene, on August 22, 2023.
