The group exhibition “Another film” is presented: each work is like a screening of another film | Culture

The authors’ creations and means of expression are very different, so the name is not accidental – as you walk through the exhibition, you can see a “different film” – from classical sculpture to abstract painting, from jewelry figurative to psychedelic photo and video shots, from stone mass to pixels. All these different “films”, on the other hand, are connected by plots loaded with deep metaphors and symbolism, leaving the audience with a mystical feeling.

Artist and exhibition curator E. Pakšytė says that her works are born from inexhaustible sources of mythology and archetypes, which are eternal – alive and important not only at the dawn of humanity, but also in our modern world.

“Myths, folklore, ancient Greek, ancient Egyptian, Etruscan and Gothic era sculpture and architecture, craftsmanship and visual solutions inspire me. Through this, I aim to reflect respect for Nature and living beings. I draw on the ideas of CGJung, from the collective unconscious to individuality. Archetypal images encourage you to ask questions about YOURSELF,” she says.

Sculptor and jeweler V. Lemežienė, creating sculptures and jewelry objects from bronze, silver, precious stones and field stones, uses her works to create fairy tales about the eternal conversations of the mind and feelings, about frozen moments and dried wishes.

Meanwhile, photographer R. Pocius says that while living in the United Kingdom, in 2016, he discovered the beauty of imperfections and incompleteness, at which time his artistic vision changed. “I use random simple DIY methods for my creations, I don’t deliberately avoid mistakes. I communicate through visual metaphors, inviting the viewer to discover their own meaning and emotions. I studied various genres of photography, I improved my skills while working in the press, in the fashion industry and as a freelance photographer,” says the author.

For the artist A. Niauronyta, emotion, mood, unusual expression, abstraction and symbolism are important in her work. “A painting is a kind of ongoing symbiosis between the author and the viewer: the person, society, environment affect the author, his inner state, and he pours his experiences into the creation, which continues to affect the viewer… It’s like an endless circle,” she notes.

Artist G. Endriekus presents painting and short video works at the exhibition; although the main direction of the author’s work is sculpture, but lately the artist has been expressing himself in these creative fields as well. As in the sculpture, one can feel the themes of existentialism – human being and nature – in the author’s painting and video art works.

The exhibition will run until August 31; visiting the exhibition is free.
