The Liberal Liberals (PVL) enter the Nidwald Township State Council at the expense of the PLR, which loses one of its two seats. The Center retains its three terms, the UDC two.
The Center was thus able to defend a government seat left vacant, but not the PLR.
With an absolute majority of 5486 votes, Peter Truttmann (PVL) obtained 6452 votes. The director of a social institution, who previously worked in politics for Le Centre, thus immediately obtained a seat in government for the PVL.
This 56-year-old man justified his move from the Center to the PVL by the fact that environmental themes were essential. Until now, the PVL had no mandate at this level in the canton of Nidwalden.
Five outgoing re-elected
Therese Rotzer-Mathyer du Centre, 57, is also a newcomer to the executive of this canton. Elected to the cantonal parliament in 2014, she took over the presidency of the cantonal party the same year.
She chaired the cantonal parliament in 2020/21. In 2015, she ran unsuccessfully for the only Nidwalden seat on the Council of States.
All the other elected are outgoing: Othmar Filliger (The Center), Karin Kayser-Frutschi (The Center), Michèle Blöchliger (UDC), Joe Christen (PLR) and Res Schmid (UDC).
