Tom Stuker considers himself the greatest traveler in the world. And with almost 40 million kilometers under his belt, he might be right.

In 1990, Stuker, a native of New Jersey (USA), purchased a lifetime pass from United Airlines for $290,000.

It may be a lot of money, but Stuker says it’s the “best investment” of his life. The pass is no longer offered, but Stuker can use it until he dies.

Now 69, Stuker has covered more than 37 million miles and has no plans to stop anytime soon.

He has visited more than 100 countries, and posts on his Instagram page show him in places like Mexico, Scotland, Australia and South Africa.

In 2019, he took 373 flights, more than one a day, and traveled around 2.3 million kilometers in total. According to Washington Postpaying for all those flights in cash would have cost him nearly $2.5 million.

Thanks to all the flights he took, Stuker also accumulated a large number of miles, which he used to pay for hotels, expensive meals, etc.

He did not take advantage of his passage alone. He told the Washington Post qu’he had been on more than 120 honeymoons with his wife and once used his frequent flyer miles to redo his brother’s house following receiving $50,000 in Walmart gift cards.

Of all the places he has visited, which is his favorite?

“At home,” he told the New York Post in 2019. “I don’t have the opportunity to go there so often”.
