The neighborhood of La Florida, in the Tenerife municipality of La Orotavarecovers this year with normality the celebration of its festivities in honor of San Antonio Abad and the Virgin of La Esperanzawith the big pout being one of the featured acts.
The mayor of the municipality, Francisco Linares, has indicated in a statement that the commemoration of this festivity contributes to recovering “the customs, traditions and local heritage”, as well as to “improve and rejuvenate” this urban nucleus.
One of the main acts is that of the great puchero, an event that, as Linares has indicated, is one of the “most important in the Canary Islands”. The consistory estimates that there will be regarding five thousand people who will attend on this occasion.
The celebrations will take place over two weeks, and will include exhibitions, the rondallas festival -with performances by the folkloric groups Malvasía, Mavire and San Antonio Abad de La Florida-, the festival of choice for pilgrims and pilgrims, a route and tasting of wines, and the third competition for decorating facades and balconies.
Along with this, the 51st edition of the Livestock Fair will also take place, processions and the traditional pilgrimage, which, in its case, celebrates its fortieth edition.
