Two sports legends. Two players who have inspired a lot of young people… and who have inspired each other. Gathered around a table by the NBA for a conversation, Allen Iverson and Thierry Henry discussed their backgrounds. Highlight moment? When our national Titi indicates that The Answer allowed him to believe in his dreams.
One with the Sixers, the other with Arsenal. Allen Iverson and Thierry Henry both dominated their sport, when they played at their best. Getting them to meet was necessarily the assurance of very friendly exchanges around basketball, sport… and the notion of efforts to achieve the dreams of kids, namely to become immense athletes. The exchange lasts a quarter of an hour, but one part particularly catches our attention: the one where Thierry admits that he was enormously inspired by Allen when he was young.

Wow, how beautiful. We admit it without difficulty, Thierry was himself a model of youth for many of us. Knowing that even the biggest stars have had points of reference adds a human touch to their exploits, which nevertheless seem so exceptional that they are often not attributed human but rather mythical traits.
In an NBA then dominated by Shaquille O’Neal, a monstrous pivot, Allen Iverson showed that through hard work, size was not a weakness but quite the opposite. His speed of execution and his dribbling with insane agility are also due to his small size. No wonder such an “anomaly” in a sport considered reserved for high poles inspired beyond the borders of the orange ball. And hearing it from the mouth of our Titi, of course, brings something extra.
