The grandson of a former NHL completely dominates in France

From 1970 to 1988, the goalkeeper Gilles Meloche played a total of 788 NHL games for the Chicago Blackhawks, California Golden Seals, Cleveland Barons, Minnesota North Stars and Pittsburgh Penguins.

A brilliant career at a time when keeping goals was far from easy.

If the Montreal native can be proud of all he has accomplished in the NHL, he also has another excellent reason to smile right now!

His grand-son, Mathis Dufourshines on the side of France while he completely dominates among the under-17s in the Grenoble uniform.

His stats are mind-blowing as he tallied 32 goals and 73 points in just 18 games, for an average of 4.06 points per game.

The one who just celebrated his 16th birthday impressed so much that he even received a call to join the under-20 team, with whom he amassed 11 goals and 18 points in 14 games.

To give you an idea, his stats are higher than those ofAlexander Texier at the same age, who was later drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets 45th overall in 2017.

This season, Mathis Dufour has become the youngest player in history to represent France at the Under-18 World Championship.

His father, Jean-Francois Dufour, played for Ohio State University as well as the ECHL, UHL and AHL. He notably played alongside RJ Umberger et Dave Steckel.

Hockey is a family affair for Dufour since his uncle, Eric Melochealso played in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers.

It will be interesting to watch the further course of this small forward, who has dual citizenship, as he dominates wherever he goes.

Could we see him dominate in the QMJHL or in the USHL soon? To be continued !
