The gradual return of rail cruises

The Eastern & Oriental Express observation car.

While the health crisis seems to be marking time and restrictions are being lifted all over the planet, rail cruises have reappeared on the tracks. The opportunity to engage in a planetary overview of the news of luxury trains.

Like maritime cruises, those by luxury train have suffered the full brunt of the health crisis linked to the global epidemic of Sars-Cov-2. While Covid 19 remains present, restrictions affecting the tourism sector have now been lifted almost everywhere on the planet, making the return of luxury trains possible. A return which is carried out in dispersed order.

Belmond, leader in the sector, adapts according to the situation of the country crossed by its six luxury trains. While most of those from this subsidiary of the French luxury group LVMH have resumed circulation, some have remained in storage in 2022. This is the case of the Eastern & Oriental Express, which connects Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Its teams must soon announce the traffic program for 2023.

The Group still has a wealth of news. The Venise-Simplon-Orient-Express will offer, from June 2023, eight new suites equipped with a private marble bathroom as well as a relaxation area during the day converted into double or twin beds at night.
