The governor of the Kemerovo region, Sergei Tsivilev, signed a decree depriving artist Maxim Galkin (recognized as a foreign agent) of regional awards “in connection with the commission of an offense discrediting him as an awardee.” Earlier, Kuzbass veterans addressed him with a corresponding request.
As reported on site Government of the region, Mr. Galkin is deprived of the Order of Honor of Kuzbass, which he received in 2013, and the medal “For Faith and Good”, which he was awarded in 2004.
Earlier, the regional Council of Veterans said that Maxim Galkin, as a “public figure who insulted his country and betrayed its interests,” is not worthy of domestic awards.
The artist opposes the Russian military operation in Ukraine. He repeatedly made relevant statements on his social networks. The artist also gave several charity concerts in support of Ukrainian refugees.
In the spring, Mr. Galkin and his wife Alla Pugacheva left Russia. In September 2022, the Ministry of Justice included the showman in the register of foreign agents.
