To combat youth unemployment, the government has built multi-sectoral vocational training and education centers in Port-Gentil, M’vengué and N’kok with the aim of offering Gabonese qualifying training. And as part of the improvement of its economy, the industrialization of the economic basin requires capacity building among young people. It is in this regard that the Minister of Industry, Dr François Mbongo Rafemo Bourdette visited the multi-sector center for professional training and education (Cmefp), to identify priority training sectors to facilitate the employment of young people .
“This center aims to meet the political requirements provided for by the social plan of the President of the Republic. The government expects a training-employment match. We must work with businesses to define their needs, to open new sectors, so as not to remain in traditional sectors”declared Marie Laure Ogoula Aguero, director of the training center.
A dynamic policy is therefore necessary if we want to succeed in creating the new jobs which imply the rapid growth of the population, and in balancing the external balance of payments.
“There is no industrialization without training. For the government, we must resolve the problem between training and employment of our young Gabonese people, and work with businesses so that our young people have guaranteed work when they leave their training”specified Dr François Mbongo Rafemo Bourdette, Minister of Industry.
Mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, automobile maintenance engineering, welding engineering and metal fabrication, refrigeration and air conditioning engineering, and civil engineering are the sectors of the CMEFP of Port-Gentil.
“The minister’s visit reassures us enormously because we were worried regarding our future, and today our hearts are more or less clear. We believe that we would have openings, the most important thing for us is to access the world of employment”said Dan Mabilia, mechanical engineering student.
