The national senator and new president of the Radical Civic Union (UCR), Martín Lousteau, assured, following being elected to head the centenary party, that the economic measures adopted by the new government “They mean a hard blow for Argentine society”.
“We know, because we know the past and analyze the present, that these measures mean an incredibly hard blow for Argentine society“said Lousteau in relation to the economic initiatives that the government of President Javier Milei is carrying out.
Along these lines, the new head of the National Committee of the UCR – who will occupy that position for the next two years –stated that those who will suffer the most from the impact of the current new economic policy will be «SMEs, the middle class, and all those we expel from the middle class and abandon in poverty”.
Lousteau also highlighted that it coincides with the Government’s vision regarding combating the fiscal deficit, but considered that this situation must be resolved in a “virtuous” y “with results”, since otherwise The country is going to go through a “more difficult” situation than the current one.
On the other hand, the radical senator maintained that the recent election and the new government generate “a lot of expectations in broad sectors of society” and that they are aware that there is «concern regarding the disastrous legacy left by the worst Government since the recovery of democracy”.
“It is not enough to list the figures to understand the magnitude of the failure and the collective cost that 16 years of Kirchner government have inflicted on Argentine society.”Lousteau emphasized.
Meanwhile, the UCR legislator said that Argentina “doubled” the size of the public sector and has more and more people in poverty, and called for structuring a new social pact to recover the role of the State.
«We have to address how to build a better State. Just as Alfonsín built a founding pact for all of us, which led to democratic recovery, we must build another collective pact, which is how we have a better State for Argentines,” concluded the new president of the centenary party.
