In a press release published Thursday evening, February 16, the FNDC reported the death of two demonstrators during the violence that punctuated the demonstrations of the day. Ibrahima Diallo, 16, and Abdul Karim Bah, 19, are said to have died during clashes in Greater Conakry.

Friday, Mory Condé spoke. The Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization delivered his report of the events. And he did not speak of these two deaths put forward by the FNDC.

In a speech reported by our correspondent in Conakry, Mouctar Bahthe minister depicted scenes of “ urban guerrilla which did a lot of damage:

« Despite the efforts of the CNRD (Comité National du Rassemblement pour le Développement) and the government, individuals without prior authorization organized an urban guerrilla warfare on the night of February 15 to 16 in certain neighborhoods of Greater Conakry, preventing citizens from going regarding their business. freely in their daily activities. »

« The violence deliberately perpetrated by these outlaws on citizens and their property, on minor children, on women as well as on the security forces had the following consequences: eight citizens injured following altercations between the law enforcement and teenagers pushed by guerrilla sponsors, 20 law enforcement officers and gendarmes injured, including seven in serious condition and in intensive care. »

Mory Condé announced a strengthening of law enforcement measures and issued a warning to groups he considers responsible for unrest:

« In view of the increasingly growing threats jeopardizing the physical integrity of citizens, we have taken the legal responsibility to seek the assistance of the armed forces to support the police forces and the gendarmerie which were in difficulty to maintain and restore the ‘public order. Political and social organizations whose criminal responsibilities will be established following legal proceedings by the competent authorities, will be subject to sanctions ranging from suspension to withdrawal of their approval. »


We took on the legal responsibility of seeking the assistance of the armed forces to support the police forces and the gendarmerie who were in difficulty to maintain and restore public order.
