In an investigation published on Friday, the French newspaper Le Figaro wrote that “the Senegalese Regional Express Train (TER) company is 100% owned by the French National Railway Company (Sncf)”. An article that continues to arouse a lively controversy, especially on social networks. Information that the Minister and Director General of Sen-Ter, Abdou Ndéné Sall, quickly denied.
In Tivaouane, where he spent the weekend, he speaks of “deformation”. He adds, in a video: “I have always told the Senegalese that the Regional Express Train has several components. The rails, the system, the stations, the trains. And all this belongs to Senegal 100%. No toubab owns the Ter. Nor any private. The state is the one and only owner of Ter,” he said in remarks reported by Soleil.sn.

The Minister and Managing Director of Sen-Ter, Abdou Ndéné Sall recalled that the government only created a heritage company called Sen-Ter and entrusted the operation to Seter, a subsidiary of SNCF.
Before him, the government spokesman, Abdou Karim Fofana, also reacted to this controversy. Traveling to Kaolack, the Minister of Commerce stressed that “Senegal has chosen sovereignty by being the owner of the regional express train. When I say owner, I mean entirely and exclusively. And to go into detail, I would say that Senegal owns its tracks, its trains and its stations”.
