Ssuspended from their duties since August 2021, unvaccinated caregivers will be able to be reinstated. On Sunday, the government published in the Official Journal the decree allowing their return, indicates HuffPost.
The decree published overnight indicates: “The obligation to vaccinate once morest Covid-19 provided for by article 12 of the aforementioned law of August 5, 2021 is suspended. The decree expected by many caregivers therefore lifts the vaccination obligation.
Hospitals and other health facilities have been preparing for this return for two weeks. It is expected that suspended persons may be reinstated in the same position or in an “equivalent” position.
A possible new suspension
The number of people affected by this reinstatement is small. According to Elsa Ruillère, elected CGT Health and member of a collective of caregivers once morest the vaccine, the estimates are from a few thousand to “20,000 to 40,000 people”.

Vaccination had been made compulsory for 2.7 million people in contact with fragile people (caregivers, nurses, doctors, paramedics, home helpers, firefighters, etc.) or in indirect contact, such as the administrative staff of healthcare establishments.
The government reserves the right to suspend unvaccinated staff once more if the pandemic were to start once more. Some opposition is raised once morest this possible return of suspensions.
On May 4, the PCF passed a bill which would definitively repeal the obligation to vaccinate once morest Covid, but this has not yet been examined by the Senate. For its part, the government opposes this measure.
