The Government would announce this Wednesday, January 10, the agreement with the International Monetary Fund. It is known that talks continue once morest the clock to try to unblock the agreement with the organization that is “virtually down.” Thus, officials from the Ministry of Economy would be finalizing details with the organization’s technicians, as official sources confided to Perfil.com.

And although the same presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni confirmed the agreement at 12:44 p.m. through the social network X, minutes later he deleted it.

It is worth remembering that last Monday, the Minister of Economy Luis Caputo, together with the Chief of Staff Nicolás Posse, met at the Casa Rosada with the deputy director of the Department of the Western Hemisphere, Luis Cubeddu; the Head of the Mission, Ashvin Ahuja; and the IMF representative in Argentina, Ben Kelmanson.

The mission of the International Monetary Fund has been in Argentina since last Friday and has been holding work meetings, including with the technical teams of the Central Bank and the Ministry of Economy to analyze the accounts.

As it turned out, the Fund’s technical mission began on Friday with formal meetings with technical officials of Javier Milei’s government, with the aim of beginning the review of the current agreement that is “virtually fallen” and whose planned disbursements have been stopped since November 2023.

It is also expected, as is usually done in this type of visit, that the IMF meets with representatives of the opposition, workers, the business sector and market analysts.
