The Government ordered that the Ministry of Justice be responsible for carrying out the expropriation of the facilities of the former nightclub. Cro-Magnon Republic, the place where the tragedy occurred on December 30, 2004 in which 194 people died. The site had been declared a National Historic Landmark a month ago.
The measure was published this Friday in the Official bulletin through decree 652/2023. The Executive Branch instructs the agency, which until December 10 will conduct Martin Soria and then Mariano Cúneo Libarona will do it, to coordinate “the necessary actions in order to effectuate the immediate use of the property subject to expropriation“.
Article 3 of Law 27,695 states that “the existing building in the expropriated properties must preserve the testimonial elements of the massacrewhich add to its historical-cultural value and configure the historical memory that must be preserved, likewise, preventive, curative and restoration conservation actions must be guaranteed within the property.
