Asunción, IP Agency.- According to data managed by the governor of Ñeembucú, Víctor Hugo Fornerón, there are about 2,000 people who are still very affected by the floods in their department. He said that they have resources and machinery to improve conditions; and that they are working “quite well” with all State institutions.

“We are assisting families who are in the most complicated districts. We have presence, we speak with the mayors and we are assisting, the SEN is not assisting with merchandise, that is what we are able to cover, a little more than 2,000 people that we have registered,” he explained this Monday in an interview with state media.

The governor announced that later today he will meet with authorities and residents of Villalbín. He also plans to visit the San Juan del Ñeembucú area to assist more victims.

In this context, he admitted that in a large part of the department there are many requests for machinery to continue the cleaning work, so that the water can drain quickly, in order to improve people’s living conditions.

“We are working quite well with all the State institutions and entities, within all this problem that we are going through we have the capacity to be able to respond to several of the citizens’ concerns,” he expressed.

He indicated that there are places where conditions have improved, but others are still very flooded, such as the case of the Valle Apu’a company in Pilar, where a second batch of food kits has already been delivered, due to the level of water does not give way. “We are used to fighting against this type of adversity in the department of Ñeembucú,” he stressed.

Given the forecast of more rains for the month of May, he stated that they are working like never before and that they have resources and machinery to continue assisting families, as well as installing eventual shelters in case of need.
