Asunción, IP Agency.- The National Government, through the National Emergency Secretariat (SEN), has distributed 1,200,000 kilos of food to families affected by emergency situations derived from climate phenomena.
“From August 15 to date, the Government of Paraguay has already distributed 1,200 tons of provisions, that is, 1,200,000 kilos of food, through the National Emergency Secretariat,” SEN Minister Arsenio reported this Thursday. Zárate, in communication with the State media.
He specified that assistance is currently being carried out in the departments of Ñeembucú, Misiones and Guairá, mainly affected by floods due to the constant and copious rains in recent weeks. He indicated that this Thursday assistance will be completed to the department of Misiones and specifically to some 170 families in the district of Villa Florida.
He also pointed out that yesterday food assistance and supplies such as mattresses were provided to families in the Central department who suffered flooding in their homes. The affected populations correspond to the districts of Mariano Roque Alonso, Limpio and Luque, the minister said.
In the case of Limpio, the SEN collaborated with the drainage of the homes that were flooded, using tanker trucks in which the accumulated water was removed for subsequent discharge into water channels, the minister said.
Zárate highlighted that in all these humanitarian and emergency aid actions there is always coordination with the different institutions, and in the specific case of food provision he mentioned the constant support of Itaipu Binacional.
