The government gives 50 million to the TV campaign

– The TV campaign 2024 goes to a very good cause. With the family houses, the Children’s Cancer Association will give families better opportunities to take care of each other and be together during the difficult time when a child has become seriously ill, says Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Ap).

Also last year, the government gave NOK 50 million to the campaign. Then the collected money went to Save the Children and children affected by war and conflict.

The funds from this year’s TV campaign enable the Children’s Cancer Association to establish family houses at the university hospitals in Tromsø, Trondheim, Bergen and Oslo. Here, children with a serious illness and their families can live together while the child receives treatment. At the same time, the siblings get important and valuable time together, and other family members can also visit.

Støre talked about the government’s contribution when he took part in NRK’s broadcast and went with a gay man in Asker municipality.

– I know that the plans to establish a family home have been very well received in the professional circles that are responsible for seriously ill children. Those who work in the hospitals see how much it means to the children that parents and siblings can be nearby, and that they can have an everyday life together as a family despite the difficult situation they are in, says Minister of Health and Care Jan Christian Vestre (App).

The Ministry of Health and Care will work closely with the Children’s Cancer Association to support the realization of the family houses. The Children’s Cancer Association will organize the offer.
