The Government assures that the fuel shortage “will be resolved in the coming days”: the measures announced

The Ministry of Energy issued a statement this Friday in which it assured that in the coming days the shortage of fuel that affects different parts of the country will be solved and announced a series of measures agreed upon with representatives of the sector.

The Secretary of Energy, Flavia Royon, received this followingnoon the main fuel operators in the country who expressed their concern regarding the lack of fuel at service stations throughout the country.

The meeting was attended by Pablo Gonzalez (YPF), Martin Urdapilleta (Trafigura), Marcos Bulgheroni (PAE) and Andres Cavallari (Raizen).

As reported in a statement, the meeting analyzed the current situation regarding fuels with increases of up to 15 percent in demand, taking the year 2022 as a reference.

At the same time, it was highlighted that during the long weekend a consumption record was set, while greater activity and greater demand for fuel was recorded in the countryside.

Finally, it was indicated that during the weekend of the general elections there was “unusual consumption, encouraged by the expectation of a devaluation in some provinces.”

The measures announced by the Government

Given this scenario, the Government reported that it agreed with the operators to import 10 fuel ships.

In addition, he announced that the technical stops will be ended in the next 10 days and the refining capacity of the country’s main refineries will be increased.

“In the coming days the missing items will be resolved,” they anticipated.

In turn, it was indicated that there was “record processing in Raízen, as well as high levels of utilization of refining capacity in the country.”

Finally, it was reported that Axion was given “the possibility of increasing refining volume.”

From the Ministry of Energy they encouraged to bring “peace of mind to the population that supply is guaranteed and to discourage speculative maneuvers.”

The person responsible for the area then held a meeting with representatives of the Service Station unions, although no details were revealed.
