MADRID, 28 (EUROPA PRESS)

The Council of Ministers approved this Tuesday, at the proposal of the Ministry of Justice, the royal decree approving the Regulations of the Institutes of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (IMLCF).

As reported by the Executive in a press release, this new regulation has the objective of complying with the provisions of article 479 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary (LOPJ), adapting the regulation of the IMLCF to the changes produced in the Administration of Justice, society, forensic sciences and regulatory changes.

The head of the department, Pilar Llop, has assured that this regulation “will provide the structures of the Institutes of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences with greater flexibility, which will allow them to give an adequate response to all challenges, regardless of their dimensions”.

According to Justice, among the advances included in the norm are regulating the Comprehensive Forensic Assessment Units (UVFI), created by the 2nd additional provision of Organic Law 1/2004, of December 28, on Comprehensive Protection Measures once morest Violence of Gender; as well as reflect and reinforce the multidisciplinary nature of the IMLCF.

PLACE VICTIMS AT THE CENTER

The new regulation, they add, also allows progress in the implementation of quality in processes and expertise, placing victims at the center. In this sense, Llop has indicated that this “is an advance” with respect to the previous regulation, since “it is aligned with the commitment that this Government has in protecting the victims”.

In the opinion of the Ministry, the royal decree also favors the social and health projection of the IMLCF, incorporating the extrajudicial functions of the reform of the LOPJ operated by Law 35/2015, of September 22, and Royal Decree 1148/2015, December 18; as well as collect accreditation as teaching units for specialized health training.

In addition, they stress, the new regulation encourages the professional promotion of its staff through the creation of new figures, such as the coordination of Institutes and area leadership, as well as the leadership of studies and tutor.

Finally, from the department led by Llop they have highlighted that the regulation reinforces participation and collaboration in the digital transformation of Justice by improving and digitizing processes, and promoting, as far as possible, digital immediacy in order to give a better service to the citizenry.
