“We are lucky in our misfortune. It did not affect the theater, nor the stage, nor the decor of Seven Branches of the Ōta River, which was to start tomorrow, ”said Lorraine Pintal, in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.
“The theater gods are with us,” she adds.
While cleaning and damage assessment are underway, Ms. Pintal admits to being shaken when she learned that a fire had broken out in the famous Montreal theater.
“It’s a shock. This theater is an important institution and even a legendary place”, underlines the director general of the TNM.
“What a risk we ran of losing a theatre! For me, that’s what scared me the most,” she adds.
Lorraine Pintal and her team nevertheless had to review the programming for the next few days. Performances scheduled for Friday through Sunday have been postponed. Subscribers and ticket holders have been informed of the details or will be very quickly, assures Ms. Pintal.
Given the damage caused by the fire, it was simply impossible to receive the public this weekend.
“We are too concerned regarding the safety of the public and the artists. We have to restart the alarm system, the electrical conduits… There are too many risks for this weekend, ”explains Lorraine Pintal.
The latter remains confident that performances will be able to resume from August 25. She is also hopeful that all tickets will be honored by Labor Day.
