The American “Godfather” star John Aprea is dead.

Manager Will Levine tells TMZ.

Aprea was 83 years old.

John Aprea is known, among other things, for his role in “The Godfather 2” and the TV series “Full House”.

The actor died at his home in Los Angeles with family members by his side, his manager said Will Levine for TMZ.

According to the newspaper, Aprea considered his role as a youngster Salvatore Tessio was his biggest career success.

He had originally applied for the role of Michael Corleone in the first “The Godfather”, a role that eventually came to be Al-Pacino.

But the film director Francis Ford Coppola then brought back Aprea to star in the 1974 sequel.

Long successful career

Aprea made his acting debut back in 1968 in the film classic “Bullitt.”

His friend and former “Knots Landing” colleague Paul Carafotes posted a tribute to Aprea on Instagram with the caption “many will miss this man!.”

According to TMZ, the star died of natural causes.
