‘The Godfather’ actor James Caan dies at 82

The actor James Caanwho was famous for having given life to Sonny Corleone in ‘The Godfather’He lost his life at the age of 82.

The well-known Hollywood star passed away on the followingnoon of July 6, the causes being unknown until now.

Through a brief statement, published on Twitter, the family of the octogenarian actor thanked the signs of affection they have received following his unfortunate departure, but begged for respect for the difficult time they are going through.

“It is with great sadness that we inform you of Jimmy’s passing on the followingnoon of July 6. The family appreciates the signs of love and the most sincere condolences. We ask that you continue to respect his privacy during this difficult time,” the statement read.

Caan was nominated for an Oscar for best ‘Supporting Actor’ thanks to his role in the first installment of the popular ‘The Godfather’ saga.

Who was James Caan?

James Edmund Caan, as his full name was, was born on March 26, 1940, in Bronx, New York. He was the son of Sophie and Arthur Caan, two Jewish migrants from Germany.

He graduated from the Neihgorhood Playhouse acting school in New York, and his first screen roles were in the early 1960s.

In addition to his role in ‘The Godfather’, he is also remembered for playing ‘Paul Sheldon’ in ‘Misery’ and Ed Deline in the series ‘Las Vegas’.
