SEOUL, 04 Jan. (Yonhap) — South Korean TV series “The Glory” ranked third in the global weekly ranking of non-English-language TV programs available on U.S. streaming service Netflix, the Netflix Top 10 website reported on Wednesday. .
The Netflix original series, starring South Korean actress Song Hye-kyo and released on December 30, recorded a total of 25.41 million viewing hours during the period from December 26 to January 1, the site said. The first two places in the ranking were respectively occupied by seasons 2 and 1 of the Japanese series “Alice in Borderland”.
The new series from star screenwriter Kim Eun-sook is the revenge story of a victim of school abuse, played by Song. Kim and Song also worked together for “Descendants of the Sun” which was hugely successful in 2016.
In addition to “The Glory”, three other South Korean television programs made the list: “Alchemy of Souls: Part 2” (6th with 17.17 million hours), “Single’s Inferno: Season 2” (7th, 14 .88 mlns) and “Reborn Rich” (10th, 11.98 mlns).
