The girls of the Puig Copa del América Femenina are once again protagonists, today with Group B

After the debut yesterday of La Puig Copa del América Femenina -with the participation of the six Teams from Group A-, this Sunday it is the turn of Group B, the six invited by the organization -Australia, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden and Spain.

Since yesterday, female sailors have been absolute protagonists at the Port Olímpic in Barcelona. All of them will make history in the 37th edition of the America’s Cup, which debuts with the first category of women’s sailing.

“The Sail Team BCN women’s team hopes to receive the warmth of the fans in Barcelona”

After a complete and extensive time in the simulator before competing in the water with the AC40s, we must highlight the competitive Swedish races – led by Ida Svensson – and the Australian races – with Julia Gross – as favorites. The Swedish team also has the advantage of training on its own ship in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Despite this, both groups will have to deal with significant competition. And everyone will make it difficult for their opponents.

The locals, Sail Team BCN women, hope to receive the warmth of the fans in Barcelona. The Olympian and 470 world champion Silvia Mas together with the young Neus Ballester make a good tandem. Along with the two of them, Olympians María Cantero and Paula Barceló Martín join the team as trimmers. Nicole Van der Velden completes training as a reserve sailor.

Debut of the Group B teams

Everything is ready in the Port Vell of Barcelona with a preliminary phase of eight races in fleet regattas (all against all). Like Group B, the top three teams in Group B advance to a four-round final.

The final of the Puig Copa del América Femenina will take place Sunday, October 13, with an eye on the female sailors in the next generation of female athletes, who have the opportunity not only to write their names in history, but to give to learn about their intention to become the next generation of America’s Cup superstars of tomorrow.
