The Giants could go now for Michael Conforto

Early Wednesday morning, the Giants watched Carlos Correa leave for the Mets (according to a source) in a surprising turnaround. So what’s next for the Giants? With or without a strap, the Giants always had other needs to attend to. One of them was to get a gardener. In that sense, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reported that the team would have “some interest” in Michael Conforto. It should be noted that Conforto’s agent is the same as Correa’s: Scott Boras.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal recently reported that the Mets, Rangers and Blue Jays were also in the running for Conforto, who didn’t sign with any team before last season and had been rehabbing surgery on his right shoulder that was submitted in April.

From 2017-19, Confortó averaged a 134 OPS+ while with the Mets and hit 88 home runs over three full seasons in that span. However, he took a downturn offensively in 2021, his defensive metrics have slipped and some teams are concerned regarding his ability to shoot, according to Rosenthal’s report.
