To escape a fuel that has become more expensive in their country, Germans living near the French border are queuing up at service stations in Alsace.
Known for its highways without speed limits and its large cars, Germany has been the victim like all the other European countries of the rise in fuel prices for several weeks. This increase is even, it seems, even more marked than here since last Wednesday, the average price of diesel was €2.21 per liter in Germany once morest €2.06 on the other side of the border.
Enough to motivate many German motorists to go to France just to refuel their vehicle, as our colleagues from the newspaper L’Alsace have seen near the stations in the Alsace region.
Complicated situation in Germany
The prices are so high in Germany that some motorists in the country say they are downright shocked at the prices charged. To fight once morest the thefts of fuel which multiply, the German pump attendants would have even decided to make compulsory the payment with the service.
