The German family minister wants to remain in office

The Greens politician has been criticized for her behavior during the flood disaster in the Ahr Valley. On Sunday evening, she admitted mistakes, but asked for understanding. But the political pressure was too great – the turnaround followed on Monday.

Federal Minister for Family Affairs Anne Spiegel announced her resignation in an email from the ministry, which is available to the NZZ. The Greens politician wrote on Monday followingnoon (April 11) that she made the decision because of the political pressure and wanted to lose her job. The family minister was criticized for a four-week vacation in France following the flood disaster in the Ahr Valley in July 2021. At that time she was still Minister of the Environment for the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
